July 7, 2017 – Boundless sermon by John Becker
We want to welcome you to our English ministry and congregation of our church. We hope that you not only are blessed by your involvement through our church but also able to be a blessing to those around you. Our English congregation offers ministries for those in middle school up to married adults with children of their own (i.e. college age, teens, elementary, toddlers, & newborns).
Ministry Overview
Sunday Worship Service
Come as you are — you will see some people wearing t-shirts and shorts as well as others in business casual. We welcome young children!
Sunday School
The Sunday School classes serve to help us see God’s Word as it is written in the Bible and learn how to integrate them into our daily lives. We tailor our curriculum for different age groups: 6-9th grade, 10-12th grade, and adults (18+)
Saltshakers Youth Group
Youths meet every Saturday from 7-9pm in the Fellowship Hall. The evening is a time where grades 6th-12th come together to play, learn, and pray. We are a growing youth ministry (not perfect) that seeks to honor God by leading people to the life changing message of Jesus Christ and helping them mature in their faith in Christ. Maturity is measured when the love of Christ begins to transform and shape the mind, heart, and action of the student. In other words, they become students who think like Christ, feel like Christ, and act like Christ.
Discipleship Group
Micro groups of 3 individuals (same gender, different life stages) that will meet bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) for fellowship &discipleship. This entails sharing, discussing and applying God’s Word, and praying together. The purpose of Discipleship Groups is to help one another grow as disciples (i.e.followers of Jesus) and to help make disciples. The specific day &time of each discipleship group will be decided by the triad (group of 3). This allows greater flexibility based on everyone’s schedule — whether married with children, those that have to work weekends, etc.

We desire to be a community of people who exalt and proclaim the name of God through our daily living as well as our corporate gatherings. We desire to share God’s message of good news through our words and deeds to those in need. We desire to be a community who welcomes and accepts one another while instructing and exhorting each other to grow in Christ-likeness.

I’ve been serving at Chinese for Christ Church of San Jose (CFCCSJ) since 2003 – first as the youth pastor, and currently as the English pastor. Born and raised in San Jose, CA, I attended U.C Berkeley (B.A. Architecture) and headed out east for Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.Div., Th.M. in Biblical Studies). In my spare time, I like reading (anything from comic books to theology, biographies to business, science fiction to sociology), following the Boston Red Sox, and playing the occasional game of basketball or board game. My wife, Margaret, and I have 2 boys (Dominic &Isaac) who keep us busy and laughing!

To lead people to Christ and to develop God’s people to become mature and committed followers of Christ.

It is a dream of providing a community for thousands of new Chinese people who move into our area looking for assistance in fulfilling their needs whether they are physical, spiritual, emotional, or social.

It is a dream of sharing the good news of the Gospel, brought by our Lord Jesus through His death and resurrection. We have an opportunity to share with thousands of unchurched and unbelieving friends, particularly those who are Chinese, in both Central &South San Jose Areas.

It is a dream of forming small groups in the church and its members’ surrounding areas where our people can nurture and be nurtured, accept and be accepted, love and be loved, shepherd and be shepherded, encourage and be encouraged, forgive and be forgiven, and serve and be served along side one another.

It is a dream of helping numerous members, youth and adults, in pursuing growth and maturity in Christ by establishing their devotional life and spiritual habits.

It is a dream of discovering our members’ spiritual gifts and of recruiting, equipping, training them to be useful vessels of God.

It is a dream of sending out many of our members as ambassadors of God’s missions, short term mission participants, full time ministers and missionaries.

It is a dream of providing several worships in Sundays for increasing number of new believers and new comers.
