Questions for Contemplation & Application

If your life was characterized as a “headline”, what might it say or how would it describe your life?

What daily events or “regular” life experiences comprise or fall under that “headline” or story of your life?

What subjects or topics might be a constant or continual theme of the story?

As a follower of Christ, despite knowing that sufferings and persecutions for believers will come (and get worse), will you still continue to follow Christ as well as set an example of faith for others?

If you were to honestly evaluate your life and lifestyle, how evident is the impact or influence of God’s Word and the Gospel upon how you live and why you live your life?

What steps or changes can you/will you make to follow and obey God & His Word?

We are glad you are here this morning to worship God together with us! We hope that through this service you would experience God’s blessings to you — and know His love for you through Jesus Christ and the presence of His Spirit!

If this is your first time here, please fill out one the pink cards in the pew and pass onto any of our ushers if you would like us to contact you with more information about our church.

While in recent times the gap between Protestants and Roman Catholics have narrowed, there still remains a significant divide on some key issues of faith:

Scripture – Scripture plus tradition (Catholic) or sola scriptura (“scripture alone”)?

Justification – How is one saved?  Faith + Works = Justification (Catholic) or Faith = Justification + Works (Protestant)?

The Church – Who is the church and what is the role of the church?

The Sacraments – The number and nature of the sacraments.  Catholic’s 7 Sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Matrimony, Extreme Unction, Holy Orders, Penance and Lord’s Supper (Catholic) or Protestant’s 2 Sacraments: Baptism and Lord’s Supper.

The Papacy – The position and role of the Pope

Mary – The importance of Mary in the Christian faith

New City Catechism (from www.newcitycatechism.com/intro.php)

We hope that this will be a tool for us to use in disciplining our children, one another and ourselves as a church community.  The New City Catechism is also available online & for your smart phones.

Question 52: What hope does everlasting life hold for us?

Answer: It reminds us that this present fallen world is not all there is; soon we will live with and enjoy God forever in the new city, in the new heaven and the new earth, where we will be fully and forever freed from sin and will inhabit renewed resurrection bodies in a renewed, restored creation.

Passage(s): Revelation 21:1-4
