Last Week’s Sermon Notes
Ephesians 4:11-14 “Christ the Giver”
We Are Gifted (v. 7)
– …Because of Grace: In this verse, the grace is not salvation but rather spiritual gifts
-…Differently: We are each different and have different spiritual gifts and in different amounts. It’s a personalized gift –not a generic gift.
-…Every Christian: No believer is left out. Every Christian is given different spiritual gifts.
-…by Christ Jesus: Because the gifts are from Jesus, we can trust and know He gives them to us out of love and out of His infinite wisdom –He doesn’t make mistakes.
Christ the Giver (vv.8-10)
– Christ the Victor (v. 8)
– Through His Incarnation (Birth), Death and Resurrection (v.9): How is Jesus victorious? He has conquered death and sin through His work on the cross.
– The Reign of Christ (v.10): Christ’s death and resurrection wasn’t just to secure our own salvation but for the world. God’s gifts are meant to proclaim His glory to the world!
Reflection & Application:
How might your view of “unity” in the church be different or similar to the unity described here (and throughout Ephesians)?
How can we as a church be united yet also encourage and celebrate the different gifts each individual has?
What are the different ways Christ has gifted you? Ask the people around you this week!
Be reminded that it is only through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection that unites us and empowers us to follow Him and each other, and to serve Him and one another!
We are glad you are here this morning to worship God together with us! We hope that through this service you would experience God’s blessings to you — and know His love for you through Jesus Christ and the presence of His Spirit!
If this is your first time here, please fill out one the pink cards in the pew and pass onto any of our ushers if you would like us to contact you with more information about our church.

We hope that this will be a tool for us to use in disciplining our children, one another and ourselves as a church community. The New City Catechism is also available online and for your smart phones.
Question 27: Are all people, just as they were lost through Adam, saved through Christ?
Answer: No, only those who are elected by God and united to Christ by faith. Nevertheless God in his mercy demonstrates common grace even to those who are not elect, by restraining the effects of sin and enabling works of culture for human well-being.
Passage(s): Romans 5:17
